It is the responsibility of the instructor to verify that materials submitted for a course e-reserve are compliant with the Copyright Clearance Center’s [CCC] Annual Copyright License, determined through the RightFind Advisor. Any request for the original publication or reinstatement of a course e-reserve will initiate a review by the Library prior to publication to ensure compliance. For a description of best practices for e-reserves, see the CCC’s “Using E-reserves.” To ensure that your request will be fulfilled, please note the following.
Permission for republication of materials on reserves is determined through the CCC’s RightFind Advisor. Here is a sheet explaining how to verify permissions. (When you see ‘red’ on a title in RightFind Advisor it means that the publisher is not making the title available under the Annual Copyright License. Permission would need to be obtained through the CCC Marketplace or the publisher. Payment of fees for permission would be arranged by the requestor, not the Library.) You may also contact the Copyright Clearance Center to assist with the verification of permissions at: aclquestions@copyright.com
Verification is not necessary for sources that have a permalink (e.g. databases and e-books) or a link to a website that has permission to publish the desired materials. The Library can assist with identifying links for articles and e-book chapters, circulation@udallas.edu
