LibGuide Version 2.0

This guide will help you with LibGuides V.2, and assist you in learning some of its functionality.

A Little Help From My Friends

Is the grass greener on the other side of the fence? Is there another guide that looks almost like what you really envision yours looking like? When the creative juices aren't flowing or you don't want to reinvent the wheel, reuse common boxes, pages, elements of other LibGuides, or reuse your own guide. If the guide is not your own, remember to ask permission first.

There are two types of reuse:

  • Mapping/linking this is the default. It means your reused versions are tied to the original. When the original is updated, the mapped version automatically updates too. Common boxes are a good example of mapped/linked reuse. You will see the sentence "edit mode disabled for linked box" in the edit view for any linked boxes. This means you cannot edit the linked box, only the original.
  • Copying means that the copied version is independent of the original meaning that it will not automatically change when the original is updated. Copying is good if you want to add your own special tweaks to the content. It's also good to use for citation information if you want to use your own examples or citation format.
